Let me introduce myself, I have been a practicing counsellor since 1989, building a wealth of professional experience both in my own practice and as a volunteer in a youth counselling service set in a multi-ethnic community.
In 1998 I gained a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling at Roehampton Institute and in 1999 I completed a Diploma in Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy at Sussex University.
I have recently qualified as a Performance and Life Coach. I have a private practice and also work for an employee assistance programme.
In both settings my clients come from very diverse backgrounds and present with a wide range of problems such as abuse, addictions, anxiety, bereavement, depression, divorce, panic attacks, phobias, PTSD, relationship and sexual difficulties, and many other associated issues.
As a coach, I also help clients to clearly define their life and career goals and work with them produce an action plan for attaining those goals. I am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register and an Affiliate of the National Council for Hypnotherapy.
I receive regular supervision from a professionally qualified supervisor. As I often work with children and vulnerable adults, I have an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate issued by the Criminal Records Bureau dated 11th October 2004.
Fees My fees are currently £40 per hourly session, which I believe is a reasonable charge in line with other practitioners. If a client is in genuine need, then I am willing to negotiate.
Practice I work from my home where I have a dedicated, soundproof room for counselling, with an independent entrance. All client work is completely confidential. I receive regular supervision from a qualified professional supervisor. This is for both my clients' and my own protection and ensures a completely professional service. I do not reveal my clients' identity to my supervisor. I am committed to my own continuing self-development.
There is no limit to the number of sessions a client can have. Ending the therapeutic relationship is, except in exceptional circumstances, the client's decision.
Ethics I am a member of the British Association for Counselling, the General Hypnotherapy Register and the National Council for Hypnotherapy. I work to prescribed Codes of Ethics and Practice for Counsellors and Hypnotherapists. I am happy to supply clients with a copy when they attend for their first session.
